Brian Tracy on Optimisim

Here’s a video by Brian Tracy on Optimism.

Simple technique:
Happy people think and talk about what they want;
Unhappy people think about what they don’t want, and who’s to blame

According to Brian Tracy, Optimism can be learnt, and you learn to be an optimist by doing what optimist do, and think how optimist thinks:

  1. They think and talk about their goals – what they want, and how to get it.
  2. Look for the good in every person and situation
  3. Look for the lesson that is contained in every problem or difficulty – “Within every problem obstacle, challenge or difficulty lies the seed of greater opportunity or advantage”

We know that Talents are innate and cannot be learnt, but (borrowing Brian Tracy’s analogy) there are some ways to keep our dimmers up and bright, and the 3 points are listed up there. I know he said there were 4 points in the video, but I could only find 3….

And I’m glad for the 3 points that were found, because not everyone has Positivity in their signature or dominant themes. But doesn’t doesn’t mean that people without the Positivity Theme are negative people.

So the question is:

how can you use your dominant talent themes to level up your optimism?

Here are some ideas that come to mind.

Achiever – Ensure that your goals include those that you want to do, rather than just the things that you need to do. Please them on your to-do list so that you can focus on them. Set a goal or task to look for the good in situations, and also lessons behind every problem.

Developer – Think about how you may help another focus on what they want. What are some questions that you may ask? How can you guide them towards getting their goals? How do you guide them towards developing their innate potential so that they can achieve their goals? How can they learn from their mistakes. Have you gotten some ideas on how to go about doing it? Great! Now mirror it, and apply it on yourself. 🙂

What are your themes and how do you leverage on them to build optimism?
