Being Intentional with Strengths

We need to be intentional with our lives.  In the words of Nigel Marsh in his TedTalk “How to make work-life balance work” if you do not design your life, someone else will design it for you, and you may not like how it is designed.  In this other short youtube video, I think the person brings across something to think about:

In the video he speaks of “Meaningful Relationships” and “Purposeful Work” and he talks of the importance of being intentional so that you are more likely to achieve what is important to you.

I’m going to dive in a little deeper because these terms are big… BIG terms, and they mean different things for each person!

Here are some questions that you may wish to ponder upon, and see how it links to your own Strengthsfinder Themes:

  1. What does it mean to have meaningful relationships / purposeful work?
  2. What makes it meaningful / purposeful?
  3. What does it look like when you get it?
    1. What will you be seeing, hearing, feeling?
    2. What will you be doing / how will you be behaving?
  4. Why is that important to you?
  5. Do you see any linkage in all these to your StrengthsFinder Themes?

Here’s what I would like to challenge you to do.  Pick one (either meaningful relationships, or purposeful work) and post your answers in the comments below.  Let’s see just how many variances we get on what this means to different people.  My Individualization talent is buzzing now!
