I recently came across this image showing the impact that coaching has:
When one thinks of engaging a coach, it may often seem expensive. However, sometimes it is the most effective way of improving peak performance and growing oneself.
I remember the time that I first engaged a coach. I was learning Forex Trading, and got really deep into this method called the Elliott Wave Theory. In order to become a better trader, I eventually engaged a trading coach who helped me to learn the ropes and nuances of the method. I become a better trader, but couldn’t really sustain because trading didn’t really fit my psyche – Something I understood more once I learnt about my strengths. But through this I learn the value of having a coach and how it helps to improve my performance.
A trading coach, however, wasn’t very equipped to help me identify my priorities and what would satisfy me. In that case, a life coach would probably have been more suitable. Well, I guess the lesson learnt is not to approach a paediatrician when I need a broken bone fixed. It is important to get the correct type of coach.
I’ve now engaged another strengths coach to help me grow, and also develop my coaching business. The coaching really helps me to move much quicker than I could have, if I had tried to learn and do everything myself.
Here’s what Bill Gates and Eric Schmidt has to say about coaching:
